Your second home in nature
"Ten days at the sea, ten days in the village, ten days in the mountains"
This is an old saying that expresses how people used to live in Yakushima.
This round shaped island is surrounded by the sea.
The mountains rise up in the center.
Between the mountains and the sea, there are villages where people live.
The people in this island have lived with nature and its blessings for a long period of time.
Travel through Yakushima,
while experiencing the abundant nature of the sea, mountains, and villages.
As your second home in the nature,
blend into this special island life at our guesthouse, Manmaru.
When living with nature, you can spot the change of seasons in everyday life.
Youthful fresh greenery, raindrops that moisten the island, sea turtle walking on the beaches, bright summer of the sea and the blue sky, blooming flowers in the village, and the mountaintop wearing makeup of snow.
This island shows a number of different faces at each moment.
We have plans and experiences that help you find special time in Yakushima.
